Print Telegram chats from Android
Telegram's own chat export lives in its desktop app, so a phone has no built-in way to print a chat. 2doc signs into your own Telegram account on the phone, turns the chat you pick into a dated PDF, and prints it through Android's print dialog. Nothing goes to us.
What the printout shows
On paper, a Telegram chat keeps its structure:
- A date line for every day, and the time on every message.
- In groups, every speaker named on their messages.
- Replies printed with the message they answer, and forwards, captions and edits kept with their message.
- Photos and video frames, when you turn on Media attachments, with albums grouped as Telegram shows them.
- Stickers, locations and polls, and voice messages as text when you turn transcription on.
- Page numbers on every page. The free version adds a "Created with 2doc" line in the page footer.
Print a Telegram chat, step by step
- Open 2doc, tap Create Document, then Telegram.
- Sign in with your phone number and the code Telegram sends you, plus your two-step verification password if you use one. The sign-in talks to Telegram directly.
- Search for the chat. Private chats, groups, channels and archived chats all appear.
- Choose the import options and tap Import chat.
- Pick the period and tap Generate Document.
- Open the document and tap Print.
The session stays on the phone until you end it, in 2doc's Settings or under Settings → Devices in Telegram. The sign-in and every import option are shown in the Telegram chat to PDF guide.
Groups and channels
A group prints with every speaker's name on their messages. A public channel can be printed too: search for it and it appears under Public results, whether or not you follow it.
One section holds a limited number of messages. In a very busy chat the section keeps the newest and says so; a shorter period fits everything.
In the print dialog
Print hands the document to Android's print dialog. Choose the printer, or Save as PDF for a file instead of paper, then the copies, paper size and pages. Only the print service you pick receives the file.
If the printer you want is missing, install its maker's print app. If the phone cannot print at all, 2doc says "Printing is not available": email the PDF to yourself and print it from a computer. The text messages printing guide has more ways onto paper.
Print only some days
Pick the days before you generate. 2doc shows progress while it reads older messages. Very old periods can be out of reach: then the section is marked incomplete instead of stopping short in silence, and a shorter or more recent period will be complete. Longer ranges are a Pro feature.
What is free
Everything on this page, printing included, with a free Telegram account. Pro is a single one-time purchase, with no subscription and no ads in either version. It unlocks longer date ranges, several conversations in one document, extra image layouts, and removes the "Created with 2doc" page footer.
What can be missing
- Secret chats belong to the device that started them. A new session, 2doc's included, cannot read them, so they cannot be printed.
- Voice messages print as text only when transcription is on. Telegram does the transcribing, on Telegram's servers, and only where your account allows it: Telegram Premium, or a free trial left this week. It is off by default.
Questions
Do I need Telegram Desktop?
No. 2doc signs in on the phone and makes the document there, so nothing has to be exported on a computer first.
What does 2doc get when I sign in?
A normal Telegram session on your phone, the same kind a second phone would get, listed under Settings → Devices in Telegram. 2doc reads the chat you pick, for the period you pick, and nothing else. The privacy policy has the details.
Can I print several chats together?
One chat per document is free. Several conversations in one document is a Pro feature.
Do I need Telegram Premium?
Only to print voice messages as text, because Telegram does the transcribing. Everything else works with a free account.
